Yves Ramette makes clear that his motivation for writing music comes from a desire to express and communicate, to connect with the audience's deepest emotions. He calls his symphony 3 a "message of the heart" and music the "language of the soul." Three of the piano works here were inspired by taking walks and looking at the overwhelming beauty of nature, according to the composer. Ramette also worked with and dedicated several pieces to Arthur Honegger. The first work on the album is a set of variations on a theme by Honegger. This chain of influence might help to explain why most of his piano pieces sound like very dissonant Ravel. Despite this dissonance. Ramette's music does come across as tender and sincere. His style is highly lyrical and is often marked by dramatic contrasts, with climactic points that supply structure for the music. But he uses older and traditional genres like "sonata" and "symphony only in a general sense. It is difficult to listen to two hours of his music, but his sincerity is endearing. – American Record Guide

WITH PASSION is exquisitely beautiful. These cascading works for solo piano stand alone within a palate of time, color, and space that Yves Ramette crafted and honed throughout his studies and professional career. It is classical, golden music of heart, wisdom, soul, and experience. He moves as fast as he can, in as many directions as he  can, for as long as he can. What a brilliant trip. -  John Shelton Ivany jsitop21.com
